Building The Bridge…The First Group Marks Major Milestone

Dubai Sports City Development Hits Crucial Construction Goal Post

5th June 2009: The First Group recently celebrated a key milestone in the construction of The Bridge, an iconic project just minutes away from Dubai Sports City. Representatives of The First Group; a British-owned property development company based in Dubai, London, Moscow, Almaty and Lagos; watched as contactors China Railway poured the first concrete into The Bridge’s raft foundation. The significant landmark means work on the development’s 28 floors can begin.

“It is fantastic to see, that despite the current global economic challenges, The First Group continues to remain on and indeed in some cases, ahead of schedule,” commented Amr Al Bawab, Director of Construction for The First Group. “It’s always an exciting moment for the team, seeing a development really starting to take shape.”

Within just months of launching, The Bridge was a sell out success. The stunning collection of both commercial and residential property has attracted international attention, catching the eye of ambassadors for The First Group; footballer Michael Owen and England cricketer Freddie Flintoff. Both are members of The First Team, which also includes footballer Andriy Shevchenko, tennis ace Svetlana Kutznetsova and former Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance.

While some developers in Dubai have been hit by the credit crunch, resulting in delayed or cancelled projects, The First Group remains on targets with construction commitments. Just after the summer, it is set to handover two projects; the stunning gated community of Yasmin at Ras Al Khaimah, and The Diamond at Dubai Sports City, another of Michael Owen’s chosen investments.
